HI! I’M DEB

Hi I’m Deb, a midlife Kiwi in Australia, married to a Greek.

Mum to two humans and a small zoo. I hate waste and love turning “I wish I knew how” into “nailed it.” After 20 years in insurance and banking leadership (I know, plot twist), I traded quarterly reports for vintage skills and community workshops.

House of Handy is my love letter to the lost arts that make everyday life easier and cuter: sewing on a button that stays, rescuing lipstick-on-denim, baking tray-of-cheers biscuits, mixing simple balms, clashing patterns with confidence, and setting a table from the drawer you already own.

I live with MS, which means I design everything to be accessible: step-by-step photos, transcripts, captions, low-spoons alternatives, and a gentle pace. I prioritise use what you have over “buy another thing,” and progress over perfection.

You’ll get printable cheat sheets, friendly make-alongs, and a community that celebrates “done, not perfect.”

If you’re craving practical skills with a side of sparkle (and a cheerleader who’ll make you laugh while you learn) welcome home.

This is the House of Handy.
